Abstract
This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: The primary objective is to assess the diagnostic accuracy of biomarkers in acute appendicitis in adults. Secondary objectives are to assess the diagnostic accuracy of biomarkers: in simple and complicated (gangrenous or perforated) acute appendicitis; in males and females; in women of reproductive age; in pregnancy; and at different time intervals from onset of pain.
