Importancia de desarrollar competencias profesionales en ingeniería.

Abstract

Curriculum maps of engineering careers Study Schedule have traditionally included specific skills in their subjects. However, the changes due to globalization on labour markets, requires the inclusion of generic skills both in graduate profile and in their curriculum maps. This has led to professional skill emergence, which conjoined the two types of skills mentioned above. This paper presents the particular experience of the Unidad Profesional en Ingeniería y Tecnologías Avanzadas del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (UPIITA , IPN), showing the evolution process of a curriculum plan that did not consider generic skills to a new curriculum including them. Progress is shown and next steps are discussed.
