Abstract

Abstract The potential of vegetal species of the province of Azuay-Ecuador for the obtaining of beneficial microorganisms was studied. In different altitudinal floors, samples of plants were collected from which, under laboratory conditions, colony-forming units (CFU.ml-1) were isolated and determined. In addition, either by biochemical tests or 16S-PCR amplification, the main microorganism's beneficial potential for agriculture, the environment and industry were identified. It was established that the plant of altamisa (Artemisia vulgaris) with 5.43 X 10 6 CFU.ml-1 presents the best potential for CFU of yeasts, in the rue plant (Ruta graveolens L.) with 1.46 X 10 7 CFU. ml-1 was determined the largest number of CFU of Bacillus spp., for Lactobacillus spp., the coffee plant (Coffea arabica L.) with 2.31 X 10 13 CFU.ml-1 presented the highest potential, the plant of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) with 1.60 X 10 5 CFU.ml-1 was the one that showed the highest amount of CFU of actinomycetes; the beneficial microbial load present in each plant sample was identified. It is concluded that according to their characteristics and geographic location each plant species has a certain potential for Bacillus spp., yeasts, Lactobacillus spp. and actinomycetes.
