Abstract

The objective of this work was to identify measures which contribute with the proper disposal of solid waste in the context of environmental sustainability. The disposal of solid waste stands out as an important theme and it represents a great challenge for the humankind, facing the risks and dangers of inadequate disposal of solid waste in the nature. Due to the implementation of the Brazilian National Policy on Solid Waste, the discussion is increasing, and it becomes necessary to point out measures to attend the law. The historical approach of the continuous growth of the solid waste in the society highlighted that the economic interests stand out in relation to nature preservation that the process of waste disposal by the population and the use of alternatives for a better use is still incipient and the reflection about the solid waste in the sustainability’s core needs to be more widespread. The methodology used in the article was the deductive method by the bibliographic research in book and journals specialized in the area about solid waste management.
