Assistência de enfermagem aos pacientes sob investigação de epilepsia submetidos ao Vídeo-EEG prolongado

Abstract

Objective: To make a nursing care plan for the Video-EEG monitoring in order to collaborate with the investigation of the epileptic seizures and the affected basic human needs. Method: A review of the national and international literature through PUBMED, SCIENCEDIRECT, MEDLINE and SCIELO websites, during the last nine years. Results: The nursing role on the VEEG is to protect the patient against injuries during seizures, propitiate recreational activities and all the procedures for the examination. Conclusion: Therefore, we suggest that nursing must be involved in constant improvement in neuroscience and epileptology, detect what factors that epilepsy may interfere in the patient's life, or those who are undergoing in epilepsy investigation. Thus, Video-EEG gathers precious information that can be the scientific basis for the public health.
