Abstract

Quantum dot is a particulate material of several nm in diameter made of the inorganic material of semiconductor. Its fl uorescent color changes depending on the size of a particle. Since the width of its fluorescence spectrum is smaller than that of the fluorochrome of organic system, which has been frequently used in the biochemical fi eld up to now, it is possible to easily distinguish the fl uorescent color. In addition, it has the property resistant to light fading. For such characteristics, the quantum dot is very much noticed as a fl uorescence probe in the next generation, and various applications are being attempted in the biology fi eld. This paper introduces the latest information on the application of bio-imaging of quantum dot.
