DESCIFRANDO LAS SIMILITUDES Y DIFERENCIAS ENTRE GENTRIFICACIÓN Y TURISTIFICACIÓN

Abstract

The aim is to elucidate the differences and similarities between the concepts of touristification and gentrification. Although both have similar particularities, their origin and expressions exhibit substantial differences that condition the analysis and approach to the reality of a tourist destination. As a result, it can be seen that they are two different phenomena, which can coexist in a destination, but their causes and consequences are different: while in one case the gentrifying agent is a resident with a higher economic level, in the other case it is mainly the tourist, where the analysis of habitus marks a strategic point of differentiation in the conception of these phenomena.Se propone dilucidar diferencias y similitudes entre los conceptos turistificación y gentrificación. Si bien ambos adquieren particularidades semejantes, su origen y sus expresiones exhiben diferencias sustanciales que condicionan el análisis y abordaje para la realidad de un destino turístico. Como resultado se aprecia que son dos fenómenos diferentes, que pueden llegar a coexistir en un destino, pero sus causas como consecuencias poseen diferencias: mientras que en un caso el agente gentrificador es un residente de mayor nivel económico en el otro es principalmente el turista, donde el análisis del habitus marca un punto de diferenciación estratégico en la concepción de dichos fenómenos.
