Abstract
Google is scanning millions of books from the top-ranking research libraries to include in Google's digital archives. This scanning has occurred without the copyright owners' authorization, leading to the copyright infringement lawsuit. Nevertheless, the proposed settlement is a more effective solution to the authorization process than the existing copyright law. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
