Abstract

In view of the proliferation of scientific magazines published buy universities and the difficulties they face to professionalize their processes, this article presents the issue and proposes some reflection points regarding the role that universities assume doing this work. This must be done bearing in mind the common characteristics of these types of publications and the concerns experts have already expressed, specially, in the Iberian American context. This article invites to an in-depth analysis on the implications for universities when they are publishers of scientific journals and look for a balance between quantity, quality and relevance regarding the topics they publish.
