Abstract

Research work was carried out in orchards and vineyards of Echmiadzin region [Armenian SSR, USSR]. Experiments were conducted along with chemical treatments which are applied every year as a control method against the 2nd generation of the codling moth and the 3rd generation of the European grape vine moth. Control was carried out by sterilizing the natural male population by contact with the surface of sterilizing traps. Traps containing the pheromone of these pests were treated with thiotepa or dimatif. Effectiveness of the combined application of sterilant and pheromone against the codling moth was determined by estimating injured fruit and the windfall. For the European grape vine moth, effectiveness was determined by estimation of injured clusters and the presence of pest larvae.
