Abstract

This chapter begins by examining several aspects of girls' and women's education in sub-Saharan Africa, including enrollment, wastage (caused by dropout and grade repetition), and attainment. It then reviews what has been written about the factors that affect these aspects of education, assesses policies that have been implemented in various countries, and proposes a framework for further research, policy formulation, and action. -from Author
