Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to establish the relationship between industrial engineering and sustainable development. Theoretical Framework: Sustainable industrial development ensures that resources are used sparingly and efficiently. To achieve resource productivity, companies must optimize the supply chain by analyzing and examining the factors and variables of each company. Method: The methodology is based on the critical review of scientific literature and the integration of findings through qualitative meta-analysis, with the objective of identifying patterns, trends and key areas of intervention at the intersection of these two disciplines. Results and Discussion: The results obtained revealed that industrial sustainability is no longer an option; it is a corporate obligation, the Spanish business fabric wants to be at the forefront and companies have begun to assume their role as key players in achieving the 2030 Agenda, implementing strategies based on achieving a sustainable, decarbonized, competitive and resource-efficient economy. Research Implications: It discusses how the results can be applied or influence practices in the field of achieving sustainable development goals, minimizing their environmental footprint, maintaining economic growth, social advancement and the quality of life of the people who compose it. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by establishing the relationship between industrial engineering and sustainable development.
