Abstract

French studies mentionned below and realized since 1970 about lichens and environment concerned relations between: Lichens and substratum: 4 points are considered, 2 concerned saxicolous calcicolous vegetation (relations between substratum CaCOj content and lichens, substratic humidity and lichepsT, 2 concerned tenricolous vegetation (relations between ground and lichens contents of Ca**. K, Mg**, lichens and soil colonisation). Lichens and pollution: various pollution types have been studied in several french regions: fa) SO2 (critical analysis of classical bioindicative methods and description of new approaches). F (the case of alpine valleys), Pb (from automobile exhaust and industrial origin), oil sea-shore pollution. Lichens and biocoenoses: 2 themas are examined: lichenogeography and lichenosociology. Examples of applied researches are given for each of those three fields. © 1986 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
