Abstract

Estimates ranged from 35.2-50.8 kg/ha at the time of reclamation with a fish toxicant. In 3 lakes with similar species composition, white suckers Catostomus commersoni comprised 50% (49-62), golden shiners Notemigonus crysoleucas 18% (13-25) and planted brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis 14% (11-17) of total standing stocks. In a 4th lake, pumpkinseeds Lepomis gibbosus, brown bullheads Ictalurus nebulosus and planted brook trout contributed 58, 19 and 13%, respectively, of the total standing stock of 50.7 kg/ha. The carrying capacities of the lakes had probably been reached.-from Sport Fishery Abstracts
