Abstract

21st century, the construction sector, gender equality... Is it possible equal opportunities in access to and retention of women in positions on site? In this paper we study the factors that act as barriers and hinder or impede the professional development of women in a highly masculinized sector as is the construction. The results of the study (conducted in the city of Seville, Andalusia, Spain), belie the presence of certain negative stereotypes associated with female characteristics and show discrimination in the selection process in the companies studied. The methodology used is typical of a comprehensive study, combining qualitative techniques of semistructured individual interviews and group interviews.
