Abstract

Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is a device consisting of three main components, namely dye, semiconductor material, and electrolytes. DSSC performance improvement is needed by conducting research on each of the components of DSSC. One important component that needs to be investigated is the electrolyte component. This is due to the function of electrolytes as a component to regenerate the dye to return to the ground state. Electrolyte concentration affects electron mobility and the value of the current density produced by DSSC. Research on electrolytes is important to determine the optimum concentration of electrolytes that produce high efficiency on DSSC. The electrolytes used in this study were iodide/triiodide with a concentration range from 0.1M to 3M and 0.01 intervals. This simulation study was conducted using the Dahm Ruff equation to correlate concentration to the diffusion coefficient. Values of Jsc and Voc are obtained by deriving the model equation by inputting the internal parameters of DSSC into Matlab Software. The best performance of DSSC was obtained at an iodide/triiodide electrolyte concentration of 3 M, which resulted in a Jsc of 14.32 mA/cm2, Voc of 0.6072 volts, and an efficiency of 4.97%.
