Abstract

Wood ash is a residue from burning wood with the potential to be used in agriculture, due to the presence of macro and micronutrients in its composition. Peanut is an oilseed of high economic value with projected growth in demand at an international level. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the phytometric characteristics and the chlorophyll index of peanuts fertilized with doses of wood ash. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at the Federal University of Rondonópolis, in a Oxissol. The design used was completely randomized, in a 2x6 factorial scheme with two peanut cultivars (IAC OL3 and IAC503) and six doses of wood ash (0; 6; 12; 18; 24 and 30 g dm-3), with five repetitions. Evaluations were carried out at 15 and 45 days after emergence and pH measurement was also performed after 20 days after incubating the soil with wood ash. The variables analyzed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and chlorophyll index SPAD. All variables were influenced by the fertilization of wood ash and the cultivar IACOL3 showed higher mean plant height and number of leaves.
