Abstract
The purpose of this artide is to outline the bases of a specific methodology for the teaching of foreign languages within Translation degree programmes. As a starting point we will define specific learning goals and compare them wi.th those established for communicative language learning. We will then e,xamine up to which extent the communicative rnethodology is applicable and appropriate for the leaming context at hand. Based on the specific learning goals, we will outline a methodology that combines cornrnunicative elements, grammatical accuracy and contrastive teaching.
