Abstract

Exogone (Parexogone) gambiae, a new polychaete species of the family Syllidae, is described from specimens collected in the western Mediterranean Sea. The affinities of this taxon with the most closely related congeners [£. molesta (Banse, 1972), E. sexoculata Hartmann-Schroder, 1979, E. convoluta Campoy, 1982, E. obtusa Hartmann-Schroder & Rosenfeldt, 1988, E. obtusa tasmanica Hartmann-Schroder, 1989] are also discussed. © 1994 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
