Abstract

To study the chemical constituents of Zanthoxylum utile Huang, the chemical constituents were isolated and purified by normal, reverse column chromatography and HPLC. Their structures were identified by spectral analysis. 14 compounds were isolated from the EtOH extract of Zanthoxylum utile Huang. They were identified as robustine (1), vanillic acid (2), dihydroalatamide (3), tembamide (4), N-benzoyltyramine (5), blumenol (6), blumenol C (7), sinapaldehyde (8), (E)-3-(3,4,5-trimethoxy-phenyl)-prop-2-en-1-ol (9), coniferyl alcohol (10), integrifoliodiol (11), nitidanin (12), and two new phenylpropanoids named as utilines A (13) and B (14). All compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time. © 2013 Chinese Chemical Society & SIOC, CAS.
