Abstract

Speaking anxiety is a common phenomenon in foreign language teaching, but if this anxiety and fear continue to include students, the goal of learning to speak, namely to improve oral competence in Arabic, will be difficult to achieve. Therefore, this study aims to describe: (1) the level of language anxiety in Arabic speaking skills, (2) the factors that cause language anxiety in students' speaking skills, and (3) strategies that can be pursued to overcome language anxiety in students. student speaking skills. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods ( mixed methods) using questionnaires and interviews in collecting data. The results showed that: (1) that the students' anxiety was at the high level with a score of 2.69. (2) The factors that cause anxiety are quite diverse, including students' perceptions of speaking skills; the complexity of the Arabic language; lack of mastery of Arabic; do not master the topic of conversation; worried about getting bad ratings; lecturer assessment; and insecurity.
