Abstract

Pecten dijkstrai n. sp. is described from several localities in northern Western Australia. It represents a new, rare example of a tropical member of the genus Pecten. The new species most closely resembles P. excavatus Anton, 1838, previously reported from southern Japan to Indonesia, differing in its smaller size, greater length (antero-posterior dimension), more numerous, lower radial costae and slightly paler colouration. © 2012 Malacological Society of Australasia & Society for The Study Of Molluscan Diversity.
