Abstract
As cognition develops in infancy, early childhood is appropriate to initiate language learning. In this paper, we explore the paradoxical condition in second-language acquisition faced by pre-primary classes of State Government schools in Kerala, India. The paper focuses on the first Standard English textbook of the current curriculum in order to find the drawbacks in textbook content and methods of teaching. We develop a more flexible and productive model for the students with the assistance of new trends and concepts in teaching. The paper also analyses the teacher’s role in the 21st-century language learning and probe into the psychological phases of language acquisition in the toddlerhood, especially in contemporary classrooms.
