Abstract

In this introductory chapter, the authors discuss the book’s scholarly rationale, addressing the key themes: global threats to sustainability, the limited vision of traditional STEM education, education for sustainable development and moral agency, enriching students’ inner worlds, a philosophy of transformative education, and how arts- and humanities-based methods can transform STEM education into STEAM education.
