Supporting researchers working remotely

Mendeley’s support for institutions and researchers when working off-campus

Here are the ways in which our solutions can currently support you when working remotely. We are continually looking at ways of improving these solutions, and finding new ways of helping you continue to do your work when you’re not on campus.

Mendeley Reference Management

Mendeley Reference Manager: Securely access your Mendeley library on any device through the desktop client, web browser, or using your mobile app. Your library is backed up in the cloud when you sync and is always available to you. So if your research lab or campus has been closed, you are still able to access your library and continue your essential research work from home.

Mendeley Cite

The new Mendeley Cite, currently in BETA, is compatible with Word versions 2016 and above, Word for iPad and even Word Online, giving you a range of options to continue to be able to insert citations and bibliographies into papers you’re writing whilst working remotely.

Mendeley Web Importer

With Mendeley Web Importer you can add references, including full text PDFs when available, quickly and easily to your personal library from anywhere on the internet in just a few clicks - even when you’re off-campus.

Mendeley Search

Mendeley supports Paper Search with more than 140 million journal articles, book chapters, preprints, reports, etc. More than 25 million Open Access (OA) PDFs are available for download. And subject to your institution’s subscriptions you may have access to PDFs with just one click for up to 40 million articles. Subscribed content as well as OA articles are accessible no matter where you are - you may be asked sign in to your institution.

Mendeley Data

Mendeley Data allows you to store, share, publish and find research data even when working off campus:

  • Mendeley Data Repository is a cloud-based repository specialized for research data, available to anyone with a Mendeley account

  • All 20+ million datasets in Mendeley Data Search are findable no matter where you are

  • Mendeley Data Manager, a cloud-based collaborative team workspace, helps you to share project data, integrate external data sources securely and prepare datasets for publication no matter where you are - you will need to sign in to your institution.

Further support from Elsevier

We are also working closely with our Elsevier colleagues to provide access to information and resources on COVID-19. This includes the latest early-stage and peer-reviewed research from journals including The Lancet and Cell Press, and nearly 20,000 related articles free to access on ScienceDirect. To find out more visit Elsevier's Novel Coronavirus Information Center.

Keeping you up and running

At Mendeley, we remain committed to supporting you in your research during these difficult times. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mendeley offices are closed and all teams are working remotely from home across the world. We already had the infrastructure in place to shift completely to remote working, allowing us to continue to keep supporting you to use our solutions, and developing new tools to help simplify and enhance your workflow.

Obviously with a shift of this scale for our teams, we are adjusting to new ways of working together, but rest assured we’re still working to keep researchers and their colleagues around the world up and running. We will continue to monitor and (re)prioritise our efforts to ensure we keep our products functioning and we support you to use our solutions, so that your research work can continue.

How else can we help?

Here at Mendeley, we care about helping researchers do their essential research work in the most efficient and effective way possible. Do you have any ideas on how we can help, in this new situation of working off-campus and increased online collaboration?

Send us your ideas, we’d love to help if we can.
