Abstract

Judd-Ofelt parameters were calculated for Pr(III) in ZBLA glass. The best fit was obtained omitting the hypersensitive transition 3H4 → 3P2. The branching ratios obtained from steady-state fluorescence were compared with the calculated values, and peak cross sections calculated. Decay curves were measured from 3P0 and 3P1 levels, and critical radii for cross-relaxation evaluated. An explanation is given for the unpredicted 3P0 → 3H5 emission. © 1985.
