Abstract
To solve environmental issues, authors proposed new driver assistance system for eco-driving, which drivers can continue to keep motivation about eco-driving comfortably. It has two characteristic: "quantitative evaluation of eco-driving skill" and "estimation of driver's motivation about eco-driving". Data of surrounding traffic condition obtained from ITS technology such as VICS were considered in this system. In this paper, authors focused on quantitative evaluation. Authors defined one of quantitative evaluation index as "Eco-driving potential", which shows how much a driver can improve fuel consumption compared with other drivers. Authors explain the method and report experimental results conducted with the driving simulator.
