Genetic resources of dairy cattle breeding in Ukraine.

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to evaluate genetic resources of dairy cattle breeding in Ukraine. Research methodology. The research has been conducted on the observation materials of the State statistics service of Ukraine, the State register of subjects of breeding in animal production for 2016 by using statistical methods. Research results. It's been established that Ukrainian breeding farms of cattle of dairy and dairy-meat breeds provide an efficiency of the branch by increasing the milk productivity of cows and reducing production costs due to the scale effect. For increasing of high-productive herds it is necessary to increase the dairy cattle control. Elements of scientific novelty. It's been proved that the cows breed is an important factor in the economic efficiency of dairy cattle breeding, which has direct impact on the economic feasibility of livestock keeping. In this regard, it is necessary to examine other aspects of the organization and management of technological processes more detailed in terms of breeding farms, including growing of repair livestock, breeding for raising the level of milk productivity, duration of productive use, improving the reproductive function, etc. Practical significance. The study concluded that the basis for the development of the dairy cattle breeding in Ukraine should be newly created specialized milk breeds, which are at the level of the best European analogues according to the genetic potential, and dominate them on the indicators of reproduction and health, and hence are economically advantageous.
