Abstract
In the CuC2O4-H2C2O4.2N2H4-H2O system, only CuC2O4.N2H4.H2O is formed which was characterized by thermal, spectral, and magnetic studies. The relative length of the Cu-N2H4 bond and the type of H bonding were considered in CuC2O4.N2H4.H2O and CuC2O4.2N2H4. The Ising and Heisenberg models were compared to describe the magnetic properties of CuC2O4 and CuC2O4.N2H4.H2O. The introduction of the N2H4 mol. into the axial position of the CuO6 octahedral in CuC2O4 is accompanied by a weakening of the antiferromagnetic interaction. The structure of CuC2O4.N2H4.H2O is similar to that of CuC2O4.2N2H4. The tetradentate C2O42- moiety is found in the equatorial plane and the top of the octahedral is occupied by a bridging N2H4 group; H2O is outer sphere. [on SciFinder(R)]
