Senior Synthetic Biology Scientist - Cambridge

A research company, based in Cambridge, are currently looking for an experienced synthetic biology scientist to help with the invention, improvement and expansion of cutting edge engineering and biological systems.

You will be working alongside a number of engineers, electronics experts and physicists on the invention and creation of biotechnology that will push forward the medical devices sector.

The specific skillset we are looking for you to assist with is molecular biology. You will have access to a highly advanced synthetic biology lab, meaning you are able to focus on new developments while working alongside other scientists.

This company obtain their projects in different manners, some of the work is on internal projects that would have been thought up by other engineers or scientists in the business, while some of the work is for external clients on very specific scientific problems that will challenge everything you know about molecular science and synthetic biology.

If you enjoy creating and performing hands on biological experiments I expect you will love this role and you will get to discover new things almost daily. You will need to feedback results to internal and external stakeholders, so strong communication and presentation skills will be needed.

As a senior member of the company, you will help with the development of junior scientists in the business when they help you with experimentation and creation.

It is expected that you would hold a PhD in molecular biology, synthetic biology or another biological field along with a number of years in industry. As a lot of your work will be within synthetic biology you will work a lot with gene sciences, cell sciences and DNA sciences, so any experimentation in these fields will be useful to showcase on your CV.

Any bioinformatics experience will be highly advantageous also. If any of your previous work has had a commercial application, it would also be useful to mention on your CV.
