Audio Systems Lab Manager

Leveraging its long history in acoustics, Plantronics continues its development of audio solutions allowing customers to stay "In the Zone", to have "Smarter Customer Interactions", and to "Tame the Communications" chaos that they face every day. What You'll Do

+ You will ensure the smooth operation of the Audio Systems Labs in its core role of production of the finest audio communication products

+ Manage lab resources including anechoic chamber scheduling, updates and backups to ACQUA, Audio Precision, and other test equipment

+ Lead maintenance, calibration, organization, supply, and inventory of the Audio Systems labs

+ Develop test databases, best practices, and "job aids" for audio & acoustic measurements

+ Coordinate Global design centers for repeatability of measurements and consistency of test methods

+ Lead and provide customer and guest interactions, and gain corporate visibility, via "Smarter Working Tours" at Plantronics

+ Support product and implementation evaluation teams as required, including being the first set of hands to touch new product prototypes, early manufacturing samples, and proof-of-concept technology platforms, providing test and evaluation in collaboration with the rest of the Audio Systems team

+ Establish relationships with outside test equipment manufacturers and internal product development teams

+ Lead the evaluation and benchmarking of competitive products and other acoustic / audio investigations

+ Cultivate effective relationships with Audio Systems, QA, Firmware, DSP, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, & Industrial Design colleagues

What You'll Bring to the Table (Education and Technical Requirements):

+ You have a technical degree and 2+ years experience as a lab manager or technician, with a manufacturer of low power portable consumer, communications, professional, or "pro-sumer" audio electronics. The ideal candidate also has some experience with consumer wireless products. Have an engineering degree? That works, too.

+ You have some exposure to the following areas, with enhanced specialization in at least two: ACQUA test systems, Audio Precision test systems, analog and digital circuitry, headset / headphone / earphone designs, audio electronic designs, Skype for Business testing, laboratory management.

+ You can use Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and Skype. Knowledge of SQL database administration for the ACQUA system is desirable.

+ You quickly absorb and apply new technical and business information as required.

+ You are comfortable speaking to small groups of guests at varying levels of technical skill

+ Nice to have: Foreign Language skills in Spanish or Mandarin.
