## Description

NAES Corporation has an immediate opening for a Project Manager - Safety at our Corporate office in New Castle, DE. The Project Manager - Safety position has safety oversight, direction, implementation support, training and assessment responsibility for NAES-operated facilities at multiple locations. The safety manager oversees the safety program implementation and performance of facilities assigned regionally within the USA and some internationally. This position installs the company safety program at new and existing facilities, conducts initial safety training, and provides support for facility staff to continue programs and continuously improve safety performance. This position operates from established and well known procedures performing duties independently under general direction and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed safe operating procedures and guidelines. The position encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional variations from the norm. This position has partial project budgetary preparation and compliance accountability. Contacts are normally made with others inside and outside the company, with customers, vendors, contractors, other departments, immediate associates and own supervisor. Contacts are usually made on own initiative concerning safety matters requiring explanation, discussion, interpretation or approvals.

Coordinates on safety program and policy matters with other safety managers and safety director, to ensure effective use of resources and consistent support and safe work execution.

## Requirements

Represent NAES on all matters pertaining to safety. Responsible for Corporate, Operations Department, and Power Plant support in safety-related matters.


* Support the Director, Safety Operations in leading and implementing the NAES Safe Program.

* Provide ongoing and case-basis safety support to assigned power plants.

* Provide professional direction and mentorship to project and plant Safety Engineers, ESH Coordinators, plant Safety Coordinators and Plant Managers.

* Coordinate with other Safety Managers in the company to provide safety support and coverage to all appropriate NAES Corporate, Operations, and plant organizations.

* Ensure uniform interpretation of site safety procedures at assigned facilities and throughout corporation.

* Communicate and distribute new and changing safety-related information and safety alerts.

* Provide specialized safety support for new and transiting plants or client consulting services, including site safety assessments and report preparation.

* Recommend changes to the NAES "standard" Safety Manual based on an on-going review of requirements and assessment of NAES performance.

* Identify training needs and opportunities. Assist in development of training curriculum and materials. Lead training and conduct train-the-trainer sessions.

* As appropriate serve as the NAES point-of-contact with OSHA for information and support.

* Serve as a NAES internal safety information resource for plants to call upon from time to time to assist them in their assigned duties.

* Assess the safety performance of individual plants, "groups" of plants, or the NAES portfolio by both personal observation and by review of reports and evaluations. Based on these assessments, prepare and promulgate "Lessons Learned" and "Best Practices" as appropriate.

* Review and comment on all PO facility safety-related incident and accident reports.

* Report and track company safety statistics on a monthly basis

* Support investigations and Root Cause Analysis of incidents as requested by Safe Operations Director

* Conduct routine Safety Conference Calls with plant safety personnel, providing follow-up.

* Prepare, support and lead the NAES Safety Conference when scheduled.

* Support and participate in the company sponsored conferences and Plant Manager conference calls to provide specific safety focus and expertise.

* Carry out additional duties as directed by the Director, Safety Operations.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety and Health, Engineering or equivalent EHS field and experience is preferred. A minimum of 8-12 years of experience in the power, industrial or commercial industry in a safety role, or equivalent combinations of training and related experience desired.


* CSP or CIH preferred

* A progressive career history, with demonstrated increase in leadership and responsibility

* Must have an absolute commitment and passion for the Zero Injuries Philosophy, and the ability to integrate safety and operations

* Experience and working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations across the country

* Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with a broad range of individuals, from craft worker to senior management

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Strong teamwork orientation

* Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office and email

* Knowledge of the Gensuite™ software

* Positive attitude and professional customer service skills

* Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision

* Detail oriented

Normal working hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday. Work is performed both at a NAES Headquarters office and on industrial sites requiring protective clothing and equipment. Extended hours may be required based on specific requirements. Ground and air travel is required of this position.

Ability to travel up to 60% is required.
