The Quality Engineer incorporates quality into production and supporting department processes, by effectively applying ITW tools and the Quality Department's best known methods. The position ensures compliance to quality standards and processes, and engages in positive communications with internal and external customers.


* Maintain and review SPC in-process parameters and incoming quality inspection. Conduct proper investigation and determine appropriate disposition, documentation, and communication to management team for any data point out of specification/control.

* Lead cross-functional meetings to review non-conforming materials.

* Support Research & Development (R & D) during new product development to ensure all appropriate activities and documentation are conducted.

* Facilitate root cause investigations utilizing 8D format for internal and external excursions, and communicate results to the management team and customers.

* Conduct audits internally determine proper corrective/preventative action

* Create and maintain ISO documents.

* Perform data collection, analysis and create reports for customers, suppliers and Kester.

* Investigate new ideas to improve quality and maintain or reduce costs while increasing output.

* Assist and support in quality systems maintenance.

* Complete monthly KPI reports for internal presentations.

* Develop inspection plans, control plans, or process flow diagrams as required.

* Develop in-house technical expertise through data analysis, process control, ship to control strategy, RM control

* Make data driven decision driven strategies to improve quality.

* Lead MRB-DRB, 8D, FMEAs, Root Cause Analysis, Control Plans, SCARs, PCNs and PPAP.

* Develop Quality Metrics and KPIs. Communicate results to SLT & Operation team and identify CI projects.

* Provide Global support for quality improvements, scale-up and customer technical issues.

* Assist in Scale- up of new products and provide DfQ inputs.

* Serve as a subject matter expert, change agent and technical resource for internal clients.

* Assist in process development, designing and commissioning new equipment.

* Interpret specifications and test results to make product accept/reject decisions. Works with Engineering and Manufacturing to find a solution to insure a Win / Win situation.

Job Requirements


- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or other related sciences.

- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus

* 3-5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, relevant industry experience preferred.

* Experience in an ISO 9001 environment

* Ability to read, write, and interpret work process procedures, and customer reports

* Strong project management and leadership skills

- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with customers

* Solid understanding of statistics and application to manufacturing processes including statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), statistical hypothesis testing

* Knowledge of quality tools including 8D, root-cause analysis and DMAIC

* Demonstrated experience using MSA (Metrology), PPAP, FMEA and DOE.

* Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment

* Proficient in MS Office; JMP and/or Minitab, WinSPC

* Knowledge of Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma a plus.
