Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering
The School of Engineering at the University of Greenwich (Medway campus) is recruiting a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. Over the past few years this is an area of significant growth and the post is aimed at supporting a thriving core discipline in the School under the academic portfolio Mechanical and Chemical Engineering.
Applications are sought from candidates with a strong teaching background in mechanical engineering and proven engagement with professional, learned and advisory bodies to support our established BEng/MEng Mechanical Engineering, and MSc Mechanical and Manufacturing programmes with their respective provisions, particularly in the following area:
• Structural Mechanics and/or Mechanics of Materials
Complementary to this area of interest it is highly desirable that the candidate has both FEA and Mechanical Design knowledge and experience.
The School of Engineering has a long history of delivering accredited MEng/BEng programmes in Mechanical Engineering. Staff and students benefit from shared facilities including mechanical workshops, materials testing suite, embedded systems development facility and robotics laboratories. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that are widely recognised for their academic quality, innovation and close ties to the industries in which our graduates work.
The research interests and facilities are aligned to a number of key themes - robotics and autonomous systems, digital manufacturing, advanced materials and manufacturing, biomedical engineering, and the sustainable built environment.
Applicants must have the potential or proven ability to develop an internationally recognised research programme, excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
