Therefore, the NJ work location for this role will be temporarily based and the exact timing of the departmental move to Rahway, NJ will be communicated at a future date.-The department of Computational & Structural Chemistry is seeking an experienced and self-driven thought leader to define and implement cheminformatics analytics platforms for modalities beyond small molecules, including mRNA display platform, DNA encoded libraries, and targeted protein degradation. The successful candidate will build connections to stakeholders in IT, screening, and chemistry to develop, implement, and execute best analysis practices for these exciting new technologies. They will actively contribute to a data fluent culture that emphasized the value of FAIR data and robust, generalizable computational pipelines. Working closely with project teams, they will translate the scientific needs of the organization into actionable plans to implement data workflows and infrastructure that will influence decision making around identification of the best chemical matter from different screening technologies.-- Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: Strategic leadership in informatics solutions for different screening technologies.Analyze, visualize, and drive hit identification efforts for novel modalities screening platforms (ex. DNA-Encoded libraries, mRNA display).Design and implement data models for experimental data beyond small molecules.Mentor junior members of the cheminformatics and platform teams.Develop internally, and strategically bring in vendor machine learning and statistics solutions to enable efficient data driven hit selection and identification.Influence development of data organization and models for screening information.Educate colleagues on informatics innovation and IT project teams on screening business needs.Collaborate closely with screening and chemistry experts to improve hit identification by applying novel machine learning and cheminformatics techniques.Develop and oversee deployment of reproducible computational workflows.Our organization is inspired by invention and founded on a culture of respect and collaboration. Successful candidates must demonstrate inclusive behaviors in working with a diverse group of scientists to drive our core mission.By joining us, you'll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills through collaboration with talented and dedicated colleagues while contributing to developing medicines for human health.Education Minimum Requirement: Ph.D. in chemistry/biochemistry/biophysics/biology or equivalent, with 8+ years (or Masters degree with 12+ years) of industry experience in matrixed drug discovery platform teams, delivering cheminformatics and data science solutions to drive project impact.Required Experience and Skills: Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze, and derive insight from screening platform data.Cheminformatics expertise in an industrial drug discovery environment.Proficiency in scripting (Python and/or R), SQL, and cheminformatics toolkits (OEChem, RDKit).Application of data mining concepts, statistics, visualization tools, and machine learning techniques on large scale data.Experience with workflow applications and data analytics software (Pipeline Pilot, Knime, Spotfire).Strong communication skills, both written and oral.Demonstrated ability to derive insights from large scale data modeling and mining in drug discovery setting is a plus.Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams.Preferred Experience: Experience leading data science projects in a matrixed drug discovery environment.Experience in driving collaborations with technical (IT) stakeholders.Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Databricks, AWS, Sagemaker).Experience with modern data modeling and mining Python/R libraries.We are a research-driven biopharmaceutical company.
